IMPACT 🎉
After implementing the new AI Hub platform, we observed a significant improvement in the efficiency of teachers’ lesson planning and student engagement. Key metrics include:
REFLECTION
- Designing AI in public education requires responsibility, not just usability. In the DOE AI Hub, UX decisions were evaluated not only on ease of use, but on whether they respected trust, accountability, and institutional boundaries within a public school system.
- Good UX for multi-role systems is about boundary-setting, not feature growth. Designing for students, teachers, and administrators reinforced the importance of role-based flows and clear interaction limits to prevent AI from overstepping professional or educational responsibilities.
- AI UX should support thinking rather than replace it. Instead of optimizing for automation, the AI Hub emphasized transparency and scaffolding, ensuring AI interactions enhanced user reasoning and agency rather than providing authoritative answers.
